It’s patently absurd that Apple isn’t smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy! Apple has no clue what’s actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They’re selling you down the river.

so do i have this right? the market is up on optimism about Microsoft’s revenue but MSFT’S biggest customer by far is burning billions a month with no obvious way to meet all of its future obligations. pretty hard to see how this is sustainable.

“Open”AI dropped a 249 page paper on new math results but not one page is about how the model works, how the proofs were verified, what role if any humans played, whether any of the proposed proofs had errors, etc. What happened to science?

• At this point SpaceX just looks like CoreWeave with a bigger budget and a satellite company thrown in. • If they were anywhere near AGI they wouldn’t be leasing out so much capacity. • So much for there being a GPU shortage; just make a deal with Uncle Elon.

In vividly explaining how he deceived Musk about his commitment to the nonprofit, without a trace of remorse, OpenAI’s Brockman has done Musk’s counsel quite a service. Brockman’s also been pretty great about illustrating Musk’s contributions to the early years of the company.

The race to shove AI into everything is grossly premature, because the tech fundamentally lack reliability. Meanwhile, the chance that we will get straight answers is probably close to zero. (Altman, for his part, doesn’t seem to care.)
