That tends to happen when you compare a consoles launch month to sales one year later. Just to put this into perspective, the Switch 2 sold 3.82m this quarter (Apr-Jun) which is more than the PS4 or PS5 sold during the same quarter at any point in their lifetimes.

The lack of a physical disc is not too surprising, given that full game digital sales now account for around 80% of PlayStation software sales and 90% on Xbox. Not to mention hardware price hikes are shifting market share towards the lower cost digital console variants.
