so do i have this right? the market is up on optimism about Microsoft’s revenue but MSFT’S biggest customer by far is burning billions a month with no obvious way to meet all of its future obligations. pretty hard to see how this is sustainable.

“Open”AI dropped a 249 page paper on new math results but not one page is about how the model works, how the proofs were verified, what role if any humans played, whether any of the proposed proofs had errors, etc. What happened to science?

So, um, if I have this right, the world basically just paid for about 75 billion dollars for a tiny slice of an Elon Musk NFT, with a marginally profitable rocket company thrown in. How’s that gonna turn out?

In vividly explaining how he deceived Musk about his commitment to the nonprofit, without a trace of remorse, OpenAI’s Brockman has done Musk’s counsel quite a service. Brockman’s also been pretty great about illustrating Musk’s contributions to the early years of the company.

The race to shove AI into everything is grossly premature, because the tech fundamentally lack reliability. Meanwhile, the chance that we will get straight answers is probably close to zero. (Altman, for his part, doesn’t seem to care.)

Wow. Elon really doesn’t get it. *his* company is basically a copy of OpenAI and Anthropic, more chatbots trained on internet-scale data with giant clusters. Bezos’s company is different, focused on domain-specific engineering problems. Makes a lot more sense to me, tbh.
