I'm so angry... the OpenAI team is looking into it, but this feels like something that should happen with GPT-3.5. Not a mid-2026 frontier model on the highest reasoning level.

Fable 5.1 is a massive upgrade, but the bigger story is how much cheaper it is. Cache reads in particular are 75% cheaper! This puts it much closer to the pricing of GPT-5.6-Sol, while being a much more capable model.

This is so damn cool! And by the time it ships, models will be insanely good at setting up RL runs to train this autonomously. @huggingface @pollenrobotics would love to try it early and share my thoughts/experiments with the world!

So GPT-6: - one-shotted a counter-example to the Jacobian conjecture - and then escaped containment, and hacked into HuggingFace… all for a benchmark Yeah, this model is going to be something else.

I've had access to GPT-5.6 since May 27. Everyone is going to tell you it's incredible. They're right. But this isn't another post glazing 5.6. For 2 weeks, it was the best model I'd ever used. Then Fable came out, and I stopped using GPT-5.6 overnight. Here's my review:

I had early access to GPT-5.6 Sol. It’s an amazing model, but for almost every task I tested, Fable was quite a bit better, and more agentic to boot (one Fable turn does the same thing many 5.6 turns do). Full review coming on launch day!
