AI was seasonal in 2024-2025. Growth decelerated during the summer (students/people work less is the theory) and reaccelerated after Labor Day. This year, AI accelerated in July/August led by OpenAI, Grok and open-source. And today is the first time I’ve ever seen this:

Releasing Fable 5.1 before Astra is quite a flex. Makes me think Fable 5.2 is ready to go. So much gamesmanship between Anthropic and OpenAI right now. And I am very much looking forward to the next version of Grok. Exciting times.

I think @bot is another “Claude Code” moment for AI. I would estimate my personal AI usage is up something like 100x. And for everyone who reached out about how to build a “podcast summarizer” it took me about 15 seconds in Grok Bot and is better than what I had before.

$3 trillion for Anthropic in the FT. I feel like I’ve heard that somewhere else. Although public markets generally struggle to accurately value growth when it is this high.

Grok 4.6 is roughly the same performance as Fable 5 Max at an 85% discount. 80% cheaper for input tokens and 88% cheaper for output tokens. Pareto dominant. Grok 4.7 will be significantly better as is a much larger model with the Cursor and SpaceX data included in pretraining.
