This is a big update - OpenAI didn't even discover the first message board until after the HF attack, they only wiped it accidentally, so their decision to resume training/testing was only aware of the hack, not the message board. They had no idea.

Kudos to OpenAI for sharing this information, and for noticing the problem, and for suspending deployment. It is really important to take these things seriously, and to share the results. It's probably getting its own post. Also, you need to read this report, holy WTAF?

We are reaching new levels of did not spend five seconds thinking of the implications of arguments. Who do they think works for OpenAi? Google? Nvidia? TSMC? Everyone else? I do need good laughs these days.

The technical parts about contract details are probably right but Dario was obviously on megatilt here same as everyone else on Friday and the inflammatory stuff here esp about WH is deeply f***ing stupid to say, WH was trying to de-escalate and Dario needs to eat some crow ASAP.

If you are an employee at OpenAI, get as much information and detail about the terms as possible. Read all of it. Run it by your lawyers and AIs. Decide whether this protects the things you care about and whether it was represented fairly. This here does not tell us enough.
