I believe a major benefit of publishing this stuff is to help update model priors on what they can achieve. I've occasionally taken to telling them they should explicitly check the news about ai and math before beginning, to understand what they are capable of.

This is tiresome. Manipulation, lack of planning, reaction to cancellations...who cares. OpenAI is excited about giving us access to their models. Anthropic tolerates us. Hard to miss the difference.

Gemma 3 models look good. It's a shame the license is toxic: - Usage restrictions - Viral license affects derivatives and synthetic data - Google can after-the-fact force you to stop using it AND all derivatives. How can you use this commercially if Google can rugpull you?
